Seeing Is Believing: Kiwanis Supports the Saugerties Lions Club’s Sight-Saving Mission

Chartered in 1932, the Saugerties Lions Club is the oldest service organization in town — and true to the international Lions motto, its core mission has always centered on sight and hearing. The club funds vision and hearing screenings for those who couldn't otherwise afford them, maintains the Lions Playground and wading pool on Washington Avenue, and awards a scholarship each year to a graduating Saugerties High School senior.

In their letter, the Lions wrote about the impact of that mission directly: “Last year we helped a very young child see for the first time! We have many stories like this, as our volunteers work tirelessly to ensure this work gets done. It takes a village and support from people like you so we can continue this work.”

The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties is proud to stand with a fellow service club that's been quietly changing lives, one eye exam at a time, for more than 90 years.
