170 Years of Volunteer Service: Kiwanis Supports R.A. Snyder Hose Company

The Saugerties Fire Department was organized in 1856, and R.A. Snyder Hose Company No. 1 has been one of its founding companies ever since — part of an entirely volunteer force that today responds to nearly 200 calls a year, from structure fires to car accidents to carbon monoxide alarms, out of two village stations.

Secretary Michael G. Karashay wrote to thank the club: “Donations such as yours enables the department to send firefighters to training, provide uniforms for department members, and provide other needed items for company operations.”

The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties is proud to support nearly 170 years of volunteer firefighting in the Village of Saugerties.
