Arm-of-the-Sea Theater has become one of the Hudson Valley’s most creative and recognizable cultural organizations, and the Kiwanis Club of Saugerties is proud to support their ongoing work in our community. Founded in 1982 by Marlena Marallo and Patrick Wadden, Arm-of-the-Sea combines large-scale masks, puppets, live music, and storytelling into performances that celebrate local history, ecology, and the spirit of the Hudson Valley.
Recently, members of the Kiwanis Club of Saugerties presented a donation to Patrick Wadden of Arm-of-the-Sea Theater to assist with the construction of an ADA-accessible ramp at the Tidewater Center, the organization’s waterfront performance and arts space in Saugerties. The project will help make the venue more accessible and welcoming for residents and visitors attending performances, workshops, and community events.
Patrick Wadden, a playwright, performer, poet, and director, works alongside co-founder Marlena Marallo, whose distinctive sculptural and visual artistry gives Arm-of-the-Sea productions their unforgettable appearance. Together, they have spent decades building a theater company that not only entertains audiences, but also connects people to the environment, local history, and each other.
The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties is honored to support organizations that enrich the quality of life in our town and create opportunities for people of all ages to experience arts, culture, and community. Through projects like this, we continue our mission of helping build a stronger, more inclusive Saugerties for everyone.
