Every year, the Kiwanis Club of Saugerties awards a scholarship to a graduating senior stepping into college life. This year, that student is Mackenzie Brott, who wrapped up a strong first semester at Marist University and is now working toward dual certification to teach birth through grade six, along with a Special Education credential — with plans to be fully certified by 2030.
In a handwritten note to the club, Mackenzie didn't just say thank you — she gave an update, the kind you'd send a mentor: first semester done, classes chosen, a career path taking shape. “I am really enjoying college life... Thank you for the scholarship that made this all possible.”
The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties is proud to help put a future Saugerties-area teacher on the path to her own classroom.
