Kiwanis Scholarships Continue a Proud Tradition of Supporting Saugerties Students

The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties is proud to continue one of its longest-standing commitments to the community by providing scholarships to local graduating seniors.

Since the 1980s, the club has awarded scholarships to students from Saugerties Central School District pursuing higher education. What began with just two or three scholarships each year has grown into a major annual effort that now provides more than $30,000 in scholarships to college-bound seniors.

Earlier fundraising efforts included Mother’s Day rose sales and selling refreshments during Fourth of July celebrations at Cantine Field. As the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival grew over the years, the club was able to expand its scholarship program and reach even more students.

Today, the club typically awards 10 scholarships each year. Last year, due to the strong response from qualified applicants, that number increased to 13 recipients.

Community service is an important part of the application process, reflecting the Kiwanis mission of serving children and strengthening the local community.

Scholarship applications are now available through the High School Guidance Office.

The Kiwanis Club of Saugerties is honored to help local students take the next step toward their future.
